Microneedling FAQ

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a medical cosmetic procedure where very fine needles puncture the skin to various depths to cause a controlled injury and induce the skin to make more collagen resulting in clearer complexion.

When done right, using high quality equipment and products), microneedling becomes one of the most effective and economical modalities for skin resurfacing, sagging skin, wrinkles, any scars (including acne scarring), pigmentation, stretch marks and other common skin concerns.

What Microneedling machine do you use?

We use eDeramStamp® which is made by Dermaroller® in Germany.

Can you tell me more about eDeramStamp®?

Sure. eDeramStamp® is an electronic micro-needling device, manufactured by Dermaroller®, the original company who invented the concept of aesthetic micro-needling.   eDeramStamp® is patented and ISO-13485 certified (a quality manufacturing certification for medical device).

eDeramStamp®, manufactured in Germany, is the first Health Canada-approved Microneedling machine since 2007

Why would you choose eDeramStamp®?

We have done thorough researches and decided to choose eDeramStamp® because:

Quality

Made in German, DeramStamp®  is a surgical grade equipment and ISO-13485 certified.

Safety

  • Only surgical grade sterilized needles (must disposed after single use) are used

  • Fastest motor on the market: High speed motor = highest perforation rate without tearing the skin.  At 150 strokes per second (the fastest on the market!), the eDermaStamp® can safely glide over the skin without scratching or tearing the skin. Poor quality micro-needling pens which operate at a slower insertion rate (100 to 120 strokes per second) can cause scratches and micro-tears in the tissue as the tip moves across the face. The result can be increased epidermal damage and increased risk of infection.

Result

  • Deliver Incredible result (please see our Before & After pictures)

  • Comes with homecare microneedle and products to achieve optimal and long-lasting result

How Does Microneedling Work?

Microneedling is a simple process which can be divided into three main steps:

  1. Treatment: using special micro needles to create more than 1 million micro-lesions in the dermis on an average treatment

  2. Healing Cascade: controlled damage created during the treatment allows the micro wounds to heal slowly and correctly, rather than in “emergency mode”  which increase cellular signalling and normalized cell function. The microneedling treatment can be simply described as pressing the “Reset” button of the skin

  3. Healthy & younger looking skin: The result is cell to cell communication is improved, and new collagen, elastin and GAGs (Glycosaminoglycans) are increased. Your skin will look brighter, more plump and feel more hydrated.  Damaged skin is replaced with NEW SKIN that has better structure and elasticity

When will you see the best results after treatment?

Results are not immediate because the healing process is completed after 5-6 weeks. The results are most noticeable 1-3 months after the last session.

Is the result permanent?

The result is long lasting but not permanent only because skin aging is an unstoppable process.  The result is individual and greatly dependent on the client’s lifestyle and how he/she looks after the skin at home.

Is the Treatment Painful?

This is not a pain-free treatment.  However, the treatment is tolerable because the skin is numbed by numbing cream (we will provide and apply on the client).  Client could feel some discomfort when treating delicate areas like upper lips.

What is the downtime?

High quality equipment and products significantly reduce downtime. However, the skin is expected to be red and sensitive for about 2 days after the treatment. Your skin would feel like having a mild sunburn in the first 2 days.

What are the post-treatment instructions?

Avoid sun exposure for at least 24 hours.  Physical sunblock can be applied after 24 hours.  We suggest our client bring a sun hat and sunglasses if the treatment is done during the day with sunlight

Avoid touching the skin and only wash with lukewarm water before going to sleep

During the first 24 hours after the treatment, the client can only apply soothing Hyaluronic Acid (HA) products which were formulated by Dermaroller®, specifically for freshly perforated skin.  These products include HA ampoule, HA serum and remaining HA from the syringe/mask will be provided to take home for free.
